Thanks for answering my question and the others, very informative! I don't perceive that you have ever sold out artistically. You have always appeared to stick to your (*not real) guns in your work/art, which I think has been appealing to many of my fellow listeners.
I really LOVED the "there's always another girl demos", haunting and wonderful. Just to make a point you made very early on in the questions.... thank you!
Yes please to more Minor Alps. Love that album so much. Also happen to really like the opening track to "... Another Girl!" And yay to being stuck in the 90s.
Thanks for answering my question. The Ye Olde Records releases from the early 2010s go for a lot on the second-hand market. I missed Wild Animals (bought the files off of iTunes) so feel free to reissue it at some point!
Also… re. Selling Out… I don’t consider the TAAG cover selling out. It was an artistic choice based on the album’s content like “made in china” (another incredible record). I’m more of a sellout for not deleting my prime account or buying raw nuts at target.
Hi, thanks for answering my question! I really enjoyed reading this. Lots of good questions and interesting answers. And yes, for the embellished albums you could just add to the original artwork on the album cover. If you ever had some left over albums that hadn't sold yet ( although it seems unfathomable that you would) you could just take the shrink wrap off and add to the original artwork or just create something new in a blank spot. Then it would be a truly unique version of the album! I love your artwork but I often miss when they go up for sale. Maybe I would have better luck with an album!
this was both awesome and very brave! kudos! it's always fun to get a peak into someone's routine, and what makes 'em tick. i will have to disagree with one point: i find that Change The World is a great album opener. i remember when i heard it, long ago, i thought it was very cool when the next song kicked in. i don't think it is musically weak, either! i just re-checked and hold the same feeling, as sometimes one can change their opinions, later, ha ha. anyway, it stands up!
rhetorically speaking:
what IS a sell-out, REALLY???? there is nothing wrong with getting compensated for one's art. changing one's art to make money might be a sell-out, but it might not be. i guess it depends on whether the artist feels like the change was wrong. if the artist believes in what they've created, who gives a shit about what anyone else thinks? but, only her hairdresser knows...
Thank you, Juliana, for your candor. Your music has meant everything to me over the last 35 years and it’s always a thrill to hear your thoughts on, well, anything - on top of your vast and varied creative output.
Wow! That was a brilliant read, thanks so much for your time and energy (and honesty) in answering the questions. Know, next time you’re polishing your guns, that your artistry really is appreciated and I, we, can’t wait to hear your new album. Hope it’s a double.

I was so excited to get a vinyl copy of TAAG! (Thanks Vicky) … failure & vagabond both slay! I’ve only heard one played live.

13th Floor Elevators would be a great cover
I like your file modest meals program.

I also remember you covering “gone” by Madonna at one or two shows at the double door… perfection!
Thank you for replying to me, Juliana, and I look forward to hearing about the Duxbury incident at some point in the future.

The quality and quantity of songs in your catalogue is astonishing— that teenage vision was correct.
