Hello. founding members! Thank you for signing up and engaging with my words here and being so generous. I am going to share some things exclusively with the group of you, like this first thing here which is part of a diary I kept on my last tour. I’ll post more later (also another longer piece will be published for all paid subscribers soon). But this is for your eyes only. I am figuring out this substack thing as I do it. At night, tired from being in the van all day, we checked into our hotel. How it works is one by one we give our driver’s license and credit card to the front desk clerk, to make sure we are who we are(?) and to let them have an imprint of our card for any incidentals on top of the pre-paid room charges all on my Amex.
